This morning current World Cycling champion Cadel Evans was joined by over 200 riders after posting a twitter about a training ride. Cadel posted it as a ride to “Remember” in reference to the tragic bush fires in the area earlier in the year. Cadel spent a lot of time training in these parts growing up at Arthurs Creek. Riders left Hurstbridge Station and rode to Strathwyn then up to Kinglake.

Lots of racing over the last couple of weeks. We have seen local Triathlons taking place, the Kona 24 hour MTB race at Forrest, Great Victorian Bike Ride and the Lorne Annaconda Adventure race. Great conditions over the last month has been welcomed by Victorian athletes.
Topgear’s own Tim Devlin raced today at Lorne in his 6th outing at the Anaconda Adventure race. Tim had a huge Pb today and raised over $6000.00 for Heart Kids who were a great support for Tim and wife Virginia during their son Lucus birth. Tim managed to fit his training in around a busy time at the shop . He rides and runs most days commuting to work. Check out the results at

This weekend the Topgear Team went and raced at the Anglesea 6hr day/night mountain bike race. The crew from Southern Exposure put a great race on the coastal course.
Bec stared for our team with a win in the 3hour womens race .Bryce [7th] , Nick, Mark all did well in the solo 6hour. Peter and Jack finished 8th in the Male pairs 6hr.

TEST RIDE DAY
Last Sunday we went along to Specialized Bikes Demo day at Lysterfield Park. We had the choice of the latest range of 2010 Stumpjumper Fsr, Epic Fsr, Enduro Fsr. For a few of the crew who came it was the first time they had tried a dual suspension bike. The trails at Lysterfield are perfect to test out the best suspension in the business. With conditions that made us feel we were in the Alps, mother nature through all she had at us but we still managed to get a few hours in . A big thanks to Matt and Tim from Specialized for hanging around in the wet and cold conditions. For those who want to come out and play in the mud let us know if you want to book one of our demos bikes.

Jimmy Attard gets 21st at World Duathlon
Topgears very own James Attard had his best result at a world Duathlon Champs in the USA over the weekend finishing 21st . He got of the bike with the front group but couldnt hang on to the fast pace after chasing from a mintute down on the bike. American Jarrod Shoemaker won the Mens event.

In one of the biggest upsets in road cycling, Aussie Cadel Evans wins the rainbow Jersey in Switzerland only 3km from his European home. Evans made up for a disappointing Tour de France by winning the biggest race in cycling. Maybe it was the fact that he had a great team around him this time in that he had the best of the Australian riders in his corner. Riders like Stuart O’Grady and Michael Rodgers and Simon Gerrans [ who finished 10th]. Evans is the first Australian to win the the World Road champs. He will now get to wear the Rainbow jersey for the next year and also at the next world champs in Geelong.

Cadel Evans last night got the leaders jersey after the first real test in the Tour of Spain [ Vuelta Espana}. Cadel finished 4th in the first Mountain top finish. This is a great result after not performing at his best at the Tour de France. Check race details on Cycling news
