Paul Attard dominates National triathlon scene

paul attard in hobart triathlonTopgear Cycles sponsored athlete Paul Attard has had an outstanding season so far. He has won two national triathlon races out right this season and looks good to continue this form. see his race report below……..

“As most will know there was a few of us guys head to Tassie on the weekend for the Hobart Challenge.
Between us we all had some very mixed results from PB’s to DNF’s and overall wins!
Thankfully i can say i had the overall win on Sunday in what were just about perfect race conditions.
I was slow to start in the swim but finished it off well once i got going, but still come out about 3mins behind some surf league guys.
The ride was 8x5k loops on a very sharp and hilly course which can tend to suit me. Luckily for me i had some pretty good legs on the bike and had caught everyone by 20k mark on the ride. After that it was all about putting time into the guys behind me that can usually run well.
I managed to do that well and had a couple of minutes leading into T2 which is handy to release the pressure for the run.
The run course consisted of 4×2.5k laps on a flat course that enabled me to keep an eye on anyone that may put time into me.
As i turned out i had a decent lead and won by a couple of minutes and did a PB on that course by over 2 mins.
Unfortunatley thats not where the action ended!
I was trying to relax and get a massage when i could hear Pete Murray calling me over the PA system. I ignored it until i was ready to come out as i thought it was not going to be anything interesting.
Once i approached him he had the news for me that Deanne ‘has been taken to hospital in an ambulance’.
Some other girl had clipped her wheel from behind and sent her into the barriers at about 40k.
That news was enough to take the shine off a win pretty quick!
So i packed my bag and grabbed a map and ran to the hospital. Once i finally got the right ward i found Deanne on a bed looking upset and not to well. They told me her shoulder was dislocated and they were not putting it in.
I was ready to do it myself then and there, cos i do know from experience! However decided against and let them do there thing.
As it turned out her shoulder was in the correct place but she had damaged her ac joint, lower back and elbow.
We managed to get out of there in time to pack the bikes and make our flight!
Deanne is resting well and ready to fire in Perth in a months time.

Until Perth,
Have a good one!”
